I am writing this letter of recommendation for Cody West and Group 3 Development, LLC (G3D). I am currently the President of the Wheeler Peak Condominium Association (WPCA). I am a licensed structural engineer and own my engineering company so it should be understood I deal with contractors and construction on a daily basis as part of my profession. I had the privilege of working with Cody West and G3D on the Wheeler Peak Condominiums just completed upgrade and restoration project.
The Wheeler Peak project was completed on-time and with only a small change order due to some unknown existing conditions that could not be seen prior to starting the restorations. Due to Cody's relationship with the Village of Taos Ski Valley (VTSV) code officials we were able to go through the permitting process without any major issues even though this was a very complex project with a considerable number of code problems. In my conversations with the VTSV officials they indicated that Cody does only first-rate work and he had their deepest respect. It is my opinion that without Cody's relationship and respect by the VTSV officials our project would have been significantly delayed in order to resolve our many code issues.
G3D's work on our project was absolutely first rate. They take great care to ensure every detail is thought-out and they used only top quality materials. They also use only the best subcontractors as evidenced by the quality of their work. We had many complex tasks on the WPCA project that needed precise coordination with the residents, G3D, and the sub-contractors and everything went without a "hitch".
Cody was very responsive to our questions and was able to incorporate many last minute changes that we requested even though winter was setting in. Cody and G3 were also very timely in keeping WPCA up-to-date with the construction progress.
I would be happy to show my fully renovated unit to any of Group 3's prospective clients. The work is first rate and my unit looks amazing! It is my intention as the President of WPCA to have Cody and G3D do all our major construction/repair projects.

It's hard to describe Cody West's talent without sounding unrealistically complimentary. Cody is (obviously) a gifted engineer and builder, but he is also a diplomat, negotiator, and peacemaker—the skill-set I needed.
I was trying to rehabilitate an old adobe home. My engineer, contractor, and building officials were at odds—mired in a bureaucratic log jam. By the time I spoke with Cody, the situation seemed impossible. I wasn't sure I could even explain it.
He listened patiently, asked a few questions, and went to visit my construction site (same day).
Afterward, he presented his analysis of facts on the ground, and prescribed a way ahead. He would try to untangle the snags. I accepted.
He met with building officials and developed a memo of understanding that my engineer and builder could use as a road map. The map was followed and the building permit was granted (without exception).

Cody West/Group 3 LLC built a single family residence for me and my wife during 2007. Throughout the process, we found Cody and Group 3 LLC to be extremely professional and ethical. The home was constructed within the agreed upon time frame and the building inspectors were impressed with the quality of the work. As clients, we have been very pleased with the finished product. We would highly recommend Cody West/Group 3 LLC.
Sincerely,

Just a few notes to say "Thank You" for your help this past New Year's Day. I was still up washing dishes New Year's Day early in the A.M. after a dinner party we had enjoyed when Rick Love called me to tell me the freeze alarm went off and the alarm company had called. He said that it had been very cold, and it was still cold. After he went over to the house and checked out the situation, he would come back 8 hours later to see if there was any change. Eight hours later Rick called me to tell me there was no change in the heat situation in the house. Cody, for you to call, was a sense of total relief. The situation was under control.
I am a human physician. You are a house physician or the house whisperer. This house was as much or more your baby as it was mine. You took our plans we thought were great (they weren't) and made them fabulous. Thank you so much for the help sending Charles and Greg to make sure everything was ok, up and coming and the heat was on during the first day of the New Year.
Thank you again for your help Cody.
Sincerely,
Jerry and Lisa
I write this letter to provide a sincere and educated recommendation of Cody West and his team at G3 Construction. I was first introduced to G3 in 2006 as I began doing diligence in conjunction with two development projects in Taos Ski Valley. G3's reputation was strong at that time and several people, including another builder, recommended my groups consider G3 when we were ready to proceed with construction. Cody and I met in late 2006.
Taos Ski Valley is a difficult place to build. The construction season is short, the terrain is difficult, and access is challenging for delivery vehicles and, at times, even people just trying to get to work. Due in part to this, several recent projects in the Ski Valley had failed to plan for these elements and proceeded off schedule and off budget. Early on we reviewed this concern with Cody and he embraced it and folded it in to all of the planning we went through during the pre-construction period. In addition Cody, a trained engineer, arrived fully prepared to meet our needs for a quality builder with eyes on all aspects of the project capable of working with and performing up to the exacting standards of our design team led by Alexandra Champalimaud.
It is my understanding that he is very interested in constructing your home in a "vigilant" subdivision in Santa Fe. Cody has expressed that you may be having reservations about having a Taos contractor build your home for fear that he may not understand the nuances of building in a foreign environment. My team shared the same sentiments in general when pursuing a contractor in Taos Ski Valley. However, we awarded the contract to Cody and have been grateful that we did. The following is a partial list of the reasons that we are so content with our selection:
SWPP
Cody successfully managed our Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan without fines or, for that matter, a single issue with any governmental authority. This is quite a feat given the site's 10' proximity to alpine wetlands and a small creek flowing through the project. With daily thunder showers throughout the summer, Cody managed to keep jobsite sediment from contaminating the wetland. This was a relief to all of us given that other projects in the ski valley have suffered six figure fines for violations.
Army Corps 404
Cody also performed all of our site work while having to conform to strict criteria from the Federal Army Corps. A violation of these criteria would have held up the project for months while a 404 permit was obtained.
Taos Ski Valley / The Village of Taos Ski Valley
Our projects is within the Village of Taos Ski Valley and borders the Taos Ski Valley property and we were allowed to stock pile excavation material on the Ski Company's property. Cody and his crew navigated these relationships wonderfully in successfully completing all site and utility work. Both Ski Company personnel and Village staff, including the head of the building department, have complimented us numerous times in our selection of Cody and G3. Cody and his crew have conformed perfectly to their requests and they are a pleasure to work with.
10,200'
Our site is at 10,200' above sea level. The road is iced over for 6 months during the year and impassable to most delivery trucks. The annual snowfall is around 300 inches. The summer thunder showers saturate the site almost daily. Cody and his crew have negotiated all of these challenges and managed to dry in 8,100 square feet of highly custom construction between June 15th and November 15th. In addition, all site work and utilities, including a complicated sewer grinder and lift station dedicated to our project and several others were completed under his direction during this time. We strongly believe that Cody's qualifications as a licensed engineer were vital to pulling all of this work together on time and on budget.
Bavarian Restaurant
As with most professions, building is not just about the hammer and the nail. Cody and his crew shine when it comes to communication, professionalism, and the politics found in any situation. Our ski valley project happens to be on the same property and shares a driveway with the Bavarian Restaurant. The reports that I get from the restaurateur is that Cody and his crew are nothing but professional and courteous.
Professional Billings and Accounting
Cody's accounting and invoicing has been consistent, reliable, and based on the contract. It is pleasure doing business with someone as organized as Cody.
Forgive me for having taken the liberty to list these examples but I feel that it was necessary to demonstrate the kind of business Cody runs. Please feel free to call should you want to discuss any of this further.
Sincerely,
Michael P. Keilty, Blue Ridge Development, LLC
